Make at least some of the garage doors and ceiling higher (10 foot doors) and this is pretty much my genuine ideal home.

I described my dream home to someone as “A garage with a bed, bathroom, and internet”

Hell with that. I live in the frozen north. I want to be able to go from bed to cars without snotsicles. And without pants.

Call me insane, but I’ll do ambitious shit in a detached shop that I would never dare to attempt in something that’s technically part of my house.

My garage has an 8ft door and 12 ft ceiling. I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to enlarge it without telling the wife...

My first thought was this isn’t the real blues brothers! Then I realized it’s from the godawful sequel lol. At least I’m pretty sure that movie holds the record for the amount of cars destroyed in one scene. Only part I truly enjoyed.

That 900 number just cost me $42. I’m gonna have to add it to your bill for the remodel.

Nah, there’s a little bit too much house in the garage. Kinda gets in the way of things.
The way that I’d try and pull that off is by making a kickass modern house and then an elevator into the giant garage beneath.

Meh. Once you get over 4 doors, I start thinking you ought to just have a single entrance to a large parking bay.

The problem there is I’d want to be putting in things like long enclosed trailers. Much easier to back it straight in through an independent door than have to go in then maneuver it so it’s not in the way of the one main door.

Not too far from me there’s a beautiful old estate home, with the expected sweeping views / apple orchards / manicured gardens in front, probably a circular drive with a hotel-style entry way... but behind the house, it’s a bit of a hill, so there are like 5-7 garage bays underneath that you’d never know were there from the front. They’re even accessed via a side street, so you can have your fancy guests come around front, and your garage and all your toys are simply hidden underneath/out back. It’s brilliant, and beautifully done. Just *slightly* out of my price range, sadly.
